It was just an appropriate option for a weekend break in Portland at a reasonable price. The location was a bit sketchy, but you could find some decent places to eat nearby. If you're sensitive to noise, consider bringing earplugs.

Staying at the Del Rancho Motel gave me mixed feelings. The room felt spacious and provided a warm bed behind a locked door, which is a basic necessity. I appreciate the mini fridge that kept my drinks cool. However, the neighborhood had a sketchy vibe. It felt like I was constantly watching my rental car, worrying about safety. The heating unit in the room was annoyingly loud, making it tough to sleep. Unfortunately, no remote for the TV left me wondering if it even worked. Little things like burned holes in the sheets added to that roach motel atmosphere, which wasn't the best impression. Customer service also seemed lacking, with no clear communication about my concerns. In the end, I was glad to have a place to crash, but the motel definitely needs to spruce things up a bit.

We found a place to sleep for the night and even explored the Clackamas Promenade, which had tons of stores like Old Navy and Nordstrom Rack that the kids loved. It was a decent stop before we continued our trip to Mount Hood for skiing.
My kids wished the sheets were cleaner and the area felt safer.
